The ingredients needed to make Orange rasam:
  1. Make ready 1 cup Orange
  2. Take 1 spoon coconut Oil
  3. Make ready 1/4 spoon mustard seeds
  4. Take 1/4 spoon jeera(cumin) seeds
  5. Get 1 sprig curry leaves
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp coriander powder (optional)
  7. Prepare 1 piece Jaggery
  8. Take to taste Salt
  9. Take 1/4 spoon asafoetida
  10. Prepare 1 bedagi chilli
  11. Take 1/2 tsp Chilli powder /green chilli
  12. Take 1/2 litre water

Orange rasam recipe is one of the interesting and tasty rasam varieties. I buy Kamala orange or mosambi for Raksha as she loves both. But we all consume it as a fruit more than just drinking its juice. Grate and take a teaspoon(approx.) of orange zest & extract juice from the orange, keep aside.

Steps to make Orange rasam:
  1. Heat the kadai, add oil, mustard, jeera seeds, bydagi chilli,asafoetida and curry leaves. And fry it. Now add water, salt, Jaggery and chilli powder and boil now.
  2. Finally add orange juice and coriander leaves. Once it boil,rasam is ready.

But we all consume it as a fruit more than just drinking its juice. Grate and take a teaspoon(approx.) of orange zest & extract juice from the orange, keep aside. Orange rasam flavoured with orange peel. An unique flavoured rasam that goes well with rice and good to have as such too. I wanted to try this when my Co sis sent a recipe.
