The ingredients needed to make Kadak Rasam:
  1. Take 2 large tomato
  2. Make ready 1 medium Onion
  3. Get 3-4 green chillis
  4. Take 1 tsp pepper corn
  5. Prepare 1 inch ginger
  6. Take 6-7 garlic clove
  7. Prepare 1 sprig curry leaves
  8. Get 2 inch tamarind
  9. Prepare 2 tsp chilli powder
  10. Take Salt
  11. Get Rasam Powder (preferably achi or shakthi)
  12. Get 1/2 tsp turmeric
  13. Get Bunch coriander leaves
  14. Make ready 3/4 litre Water
  15. Take 3 tsp oil
Steps to make Kadak Rasam:
  1. Heat oil in a bottom pan. Add mustard when the oil is hot. Add curry leaves. Let it splutter. Add currry leaves, crushed ginger, garlic and pepper corn
  2. Add onions and chilli. Fry til golden brown.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes. Fry til the tomato turns mushy
  4. Once the tomato is mushy, add turmeric, chilli powder, salt and rasam Powder. Add tamarind.
  5. Mix well for a minute
  6. Add water, mix well and cover the lid.
  7. Let the mixture boil for 10-15 minutes
  8. After 15 minutes, add some more rasam Powder, salt and tamarind if needed.
  9. Final step, add coriander leaves, and boil on low flame fr 5 minutes.
