- Take 1/2 tsp Jaggery powder
This is a mild rasam that tastes excellent with rice. Dal rasam recipe - a spicy, hot rasam recipe made with cooked, mashed dal and flavored with tomato, tamarind, rasam powder and few other spices. It is also known as Paruppu rasam since paruppu. Toor Dal is also called as Tuvar dal, Arhar dal, Toovar dal in India.
Steps to make Toor dal Rasam:
- Pressure cook dal for 2 whistles.
- In a pan oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida, curry leaves, red chilli and saute for a minute and then add cooked dal.
- Now add tamarind water, rasam powder, turmeric powder, salt to taste, grated coconut, chopped coriander leaves and jaggery powder.
- Cook for 5 minutes more and serve hot with rice and ghee.
