You can replace my rasam powder with store bought rasam powder too. This can be made with few variations too, which I always do. Hot rasam, hot rice plus ghee - heavenly combination. Rasam is a south Indian soup which is eaten with rice.
Instructions to make Rasam:
- Soak tamarind in water and extract it’s paste.
- Chop tomatoes, curry leaves and garlic cloves.
- Heat oil in a pan, add asafoetida, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chilli, when crackled add chopped garlic and sauté it.
- Now add chopped tomatoes and cook it till tender. Now add chopped curry leaves, rasam powder, gur and water and allow it to boil for 2-3 minutes and serve hot with rice or idlis.
