The ingredients needed to make Mango sambar:
- Prepare 2 tbsp Oil
- Make ready 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- Take 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
- Get 1 tsp Urad dal
- Get Curry leaves 1 sprig
- Get garlic cloves 5 nos
- Get 1 tsp Hing powder
- Take Red chilli 2 nos
- Get Green chilli 2 nos
- Prepare Onion 1 nos
- Get Tomato 1 nos
- Make ready Mango 1 nos
- Make ready 1 cups Toor dal
- Prepare Tamarind juice- small lemon size 1 nos
- Take 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- Take 1 tsp Chilli powder
- Take 1 tbsp Sambar powder
This year at least let this sambar be my first mango recipe as its my most favorite. There are numerous versions of sambar but this one is note worthy due to the magical sambar powder. Mango sambar is one of the flavorful, tasty , tangy and mouth watering south indian recipe. Mango season has already started and easily available in the market now.
Instructions to make Mango sambar:
- Wash toor dal and cook well in a pressure cooker along with 2 garlic, turmeric powder, green chilli, Hing powder and salt for 2 whistles.
- Soak a lemon sized tamarind in a water for 15 mins and take the juice.
- In a pan add oil, when it is hot add red chilli, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal,remaining garlic,Hing powder and Curry leaves. When spluttering add onions and tomato, mix it well and cook till it becomes mushy.
- Now add turmeric powder, chilli powder and sambar powder. Mix well till the raw smell goes.
- Add the cubed mango pieces and mix well to the masala.
- Now mash the cooked dal and add to the onion tomato masala.
- Keep the flame in medium low and cover it for 5 mins, mix it in between to avoid burning.
- Now extract the juice from the tamarind that is soaked in water and add to the dal. Add more water to this if you according to your consistency and let it boil for 15 mins in medium low.
- Now switch off and have the tasty mango sambar with hot steamed rice.
Mango sambar is one of the flavorful, tasty , tangy and mouth watering south indian recipe. Mango season has already started and easily available in the market now. What else could be a great joy for. Raw Mango sambar i have tasted in my friend's house few years back, but somehow i didn't liked it. But i don't say she didn't make it nice, because mango sambar one of her signature.
