- Take 1 lb ground beef/pork
- Get 1/2 onion; chopped

- Get 1.5 (24 oz) spaghetti sauce
- Prepare 1/4 cup banana ketchup
- Take 2 tbsp mang tomas all-purpose sauce
- Prepare 2 bay leaves
- Prepare 1/2 grated carrot (optional)
- Take A few sprigs of rosemary (optional)
- Get A few leaves of basil (optional)
- Prepare cooked spaghetti
- Get Shredded cheese
How to Make Grandma's Homemade Spaghetti Sauce. Pour the cans of crushed tomatoes, tomato puree and tomato paste into a large stockpot. Fill up the empty puree can with water and add to stockpot. Cut ends of onion & peel.
Instructions to make Grandma’s Spaghetti:
- Prep your ingredients.
- Sauté the onions, garlic, and tomato until translucent.
- Add in the ground pork/beef and sauté until no longer pink.
- Pour in your favorite spaghetti sauces. I used 1 and a half of these jars! Whatever floats your boat.
- Chop half a sprig of rosemary leaves and add that in there, along with a whole sprig to infuse the sauce. + 2 bay leaves, or 4 if they’re small.
- The basil and grated carrot are optional. They were in my fridge. #whynot
- Pour in the not-so-secret sauces: banana ketchup and mang tomas. No additional sugar needed!
- Simmer for as little as 15mins and/or up to 1hr. Top w cheese and enjoy!
Fill up the empty puree can with water and add to stockpot. Cut ends of onion & peel. Put stockpot on stove & turn on high.. Be sure to make a triple batch of this sauce. it is tried and true and been around for generations. I remember my grandma making this stovetop supper many times—we always loved granny's spaghetti!
